Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They help the website remember information between pages or visits, such as whether you are signed in.

Cookies We Use

We keep cookies to a minimum. Reading our stories, magazines, news and podcasts does not require any cookies, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

• Strictly necessary — sign-in session: when members of our editorial team sign in to the admin area, a secure session cookie keeps them signed in. It is only set for team members who sign in, expires after 7 days (or when they sign out), and is never set for ordinary visitors.
• Payments — Razorpay: if you pay a story submission fee, the payment is handled by Razorpay, which may set its own cookies to process the payment securely and prevent fraud. These are governed by Razorpay's privacy and cookie policies.

Analytics and Advertising

We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. Advertisements shown on our website are served directly by us and do not track you across other websites.

If we introduce analytics or other optional cookies in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before setting them.

Third-Party Content

Images on our website are delivered through Cloudinary, a content delivery service. Some pages link to external platforms such as YouTube or Spotify for podcasts and videos; those platforms may set their own cookies when you visit them, under their own policies.

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, there is nothing to switch on or off on our website. You can still control cookies through your browser settings at any time:

• View the cookies a website has stored and delete them individually or all at once.
• Block cookies from specific websites or from all websites.
• Block third-party cookies only.
• Clear all cookies automatically when you close your browser.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will not affect reading the website, but it will prevent signing in to the admin area and may stop the payment checkout from working.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change how our website works or when legal requirements change. Any updates will be published on this page with a revised date.
